The Australian Business Number (ABN) is a unique 11 digit identifier that makes it easier for businesses and all levels of government to interact. You can search for an ABN by clicking here.

You will need an ABN where you:
1. have an expected turnover (sales) for the year of more than $75,000;
2. you are providing/selling goods or services to another business (else those business may be forced to withhold tax at the top marginal tax rate).
